Corruption
Corruption is a progressive degradation that affects both pilots and their Vytar ships. It is considered the greatest internal threat to the Starfall Alliance — perhaps more dangerous than the Vexro themselves.
Causes
Corruption is triggered by three main factors:
- Direct exposure to Vexro entities during combat
- Accelerated evolution of the Vytar, especially at high ranks
- Prolonged symbiosis without periods of rest and disconnection
Stages
Stage 1 — Static
Subtle visual distortions. The pilot sees “noise” at the edges of their vision. The ship shows small anomalies in the texture of its hull. Reversible with rest.
Stage 2 — Whispers
The pilot starts hearing sounds that don’t exist — sub-vocal frequencies that seem to carry meaning. The Vytar mutates in unexpected ways while the pilot sleeps. Partially reversible.
Stage 3 — Dissolution
The boundary between pilot and ship becomes unstable. The pilot feels pain when the ship is damaged. Shared dreams. Memories that belong to neither of them. Hard to reverse.
Stage 4 — [DATA ERASED]
The Stage 4 records were removed by order of the Starfall Alliance Council. What is known is that pilots who reach this level never return to what they were. Some say they don’t return at all.
The Corruption Paradox
The most disturbing aspect of corruption is that it is also the key to power. Vytar that absorb more corruption evolve faster and develop superior abilities. The Starfall Alliance faces a constant dilemma: restricting corruption limits the power of its pilots; allowing it risks losing them forever.
