The Vexro

The Vexro are cosmic horror entities that dwell in the darkest corners of the universe. No one knows where they came from. No one knows what they want. What is known is that their presence corrupts everything around them.

Nature

The Vexro don’t seem to follow the laws of conventional physics. They manifest as distorted forms, somewhere between the organic and the impossibly geometric. Some researchers believe the Vexro are not creatures, but symptoms — manifestations of something far larger and incomprehensible hiding beyond known space.

Corruption

Proximity to the Vexro causes Corruption in pilots and their ships. Its effects include:

• Visual and auditory distortions
• The Vytar ship begins to mutate in unexpected ways
• The pilot hears whispers in impossible languages
• In advanced stages, the boundary between pilot and ship dissolves

Known Types

• Sentinels — patrol star systems and attack intruders
• Swarms — dozens of small entities acting as a collective mind
• Heralds — colossal Vexro that appear before catastrophic events
• The Core — a theoretical entity no one has seen and lived to tell about

The Paradox

The most disturbing thing about the Vexro is that Vytar technology seems to have a connection to them. The living ships react to a Vexro presence not with fear, but with… recognition.
